The primary material used for standard natural nylon cable ties is Nylon 66 (PA66), which is the most widely used base material in the industry.
Standard natural nylon cable ties are injection-molded from UL-certified Nylon 66. They feature a UL94 V-2 flammability rating and operate reliably within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Key characteristics include resistance to acid and alkali corrosion, excellent electrical insulation, aging resistance, and superior tensile strength.
Certain specialized versions utilize modified materials: for instance, PA12-based products do not become brittle at low temperatures and offer enhanced weather resistance, making them suitable for outdoor engineering applications. High-end models made from PEEK (polyether ether ketone) can withstand temperatures up to 260°C and are typically used in specialized environments such as semiconductor manufacturing and the bundling of workshop piping.
A small number of entry-level, budget-friendly products use PA6; while lower in cost than PA66, PA6 offers sufficient performance to meet standard daily bundling requirements.
